![]() ![]() Whichever region you’re from, I can guarantee that there are a tonne of great games that never came to your shores. Import: Finding games that were unreleased in your home territory can be great fun. ![]() Support the indie scene: A worthy cause no doubt, but let’s be honest, the quality of these titles are rarely anything special and never up to the standard of the Dreamcast’s best Sega developed games. ![]() But what’s the hardcore Dreamcast fan to do? Most gamers, even fans of the Dreamcast, moved onto greener pastures long ago. It’s been almost 18 years since the console was first launched in its home territory of Japan, and while it’s still getting support (unofficial at least) to this day, the number of new titles has of course dwindled since its heyday. Good news indeed.I’d assume that many of you reading this already own a substantial Dreamcast collection or have at least played a wide variety of games on the system. So far, around twenty developers, including Capcom, Tecmo, Treasure, and Konami, have signed up for Naomi ¿ and it's expected that most titles that appear on the hardware in arcades will eventually turn up on Dreamcast. Apparently, despite Naomi being far superior, Model 3 has a few good features which Naomi doesn't match. This has been met with some resistance from a lot of old guard AM personnel, who have only just started to push the limits of Model 3. Incidentally, all AM personnel in Japan have been ordered to drop Model 3 from future projects and concentrate on Naomi development. Conversion times between Naomi and Dreamcast are negligible ¿ most of the development time for the home versions will be spent on enhancing the coin-op originals. The good news is that players can expect both of them to arrive on Dreamcast in mid-1999. Two titles that'll be launched very soon on the system are House of the Dead 2, the sequel to the highly entertaining light gun game, and Blood Bullet, a gory SpikeOut-style game which has 3D Final Fight-style beat 'em up action. ![]()
